The need for Plant Condition Assessments has arisen because existing assets need to last longer as demands for capital and maintenance money reduce or redirect elsewhere. A condition assessment provides a systematic and flexible approach developed for plant owners to have accurate and up-to-date knowledge on the condition of their assets. This allows plant owners to make informed decisions on where to best spend money to provide safe assets and extend operating life.
Structural Assets has developed a methodology for the assessment of existing assets consistent with most Building Codes of Practice throughout the world.
The assessment carried out by our group of experienced engineers considers the following key areas:
- physical condition
- integrity
- operating environment
- human factors
An important requirement for effective asset condition assessments is to have a consistent rating system which is consistently repeatable for future audits and for different inspectors.
A Condition Assessment is a key component in developing a Life Extension strategy for a plant or for individual assets or components.
